"description": "Join leaders from across the country to meet in central London to share local campaigns on the three strands of the housing and homelessness campaign: temporary accommodation, affordable housing and repair and upgrade. We will then take action collectively in pursuit of warm, healthy and affordable homes. What is the action about? The Warm Homes Plan will deliver over £13 billion of new national government money to local councils to spend on cutting carbon emissions and is due to be released in the autumn. We are calling on the Miatta Fahnbulleh, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero), and Peckham MP, to make sure that some of this money can be spent on repairing poor quality housing at the same time as upgrading them with Warm Homes improvements. This will encourage local councils to create a more integrated approach to upgrade and repair and support many of the housing issues that leaders in our alliances are facing. Join us on the day and write to your MP to write to Miatta to make these additions to the Warm Homes Plan. Schedule 11:00 Leader workshop (venue TBC) to: a) connect with housing leaders from across Citizens UK; b) share stories about campaign wins around affordable housing in south London; housing surgeries in Newham and taking our national asks to make them into local ones for the local elections. We will be discussing our 3 interlocking national housing campaigns – see here for a summary. 12:30 lunch and walk to Parliament Square 13:30 Parliament Square to meet Miatta Fahnbulleh MP and other MPs connected to our housing work – invite your MP 14:15 Evaluation 14:30 Close",
