	"description": "The rapid development of powerful AI systems presents complex and unique dangers to society. However, discussions about these threats are often inaccessible and dominated by influential actors who exaggerate hypothetical risks while downplaying real harms. Starting August 7th, the DSA Tech Action Working Group is launching the AI Justice Reading Group to explore AI from a socialist perspective through collective study and discussion. We’ll address crucial questions: What is the recent history of AI? How does AI contribute to reducing or exacerbating societal inequalities? Who benefits from AI, and how are its impacts distributed? We welcome all backgrounds and perspectives, and non-DSA folks are very welcome to join as well! This member-led group will be highly cross-disciplinary, featuring a diverse reading list from policy, political theory, computer science, and science and technology studies. Our goal is to bridge knowledge gaps, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and promote equitable political education on AI, empowering us to make informed decisions on future AI policies.
