"description": "The latest update. Prepare with us a different Peace and Climate Justice Youth Summit, with local watch parties throughout Africa. Here are some brief points that came out of the PCJ youth summit plenary committee meetings. Some 23 people from over 10 countries joined in sofar. Progress is being made on the building of a global network around Peace and Justice, now with stronger contacts out of India and endorsements of the PCJ efforts in nearly 90 countries with some contacts in 23 countries in Africa. Nairobi with the guidance of Wicklife Ochieng <wicklifeochieng12@gmail.com> will host the PCJ youth summit. The youth summit will convene 28 to 30 August, with early talks on 27 August. Locations are being explored. Budget constraints are severe but usd $3025 has come out of US and Sweden. All are urged to join working committees. Groups are making an effort to raise funds. One lead activst is recuperating from severe illness. The speakers committee is in touch with several candidates including Prof. Patrick Bond, Jackson Kasangani, Prof. Stefan Sommer, Rolf vom Dorp, but everyone is urged to submit candidates, especially activists working passionately for the people in their community, willing to speak without charge. Focus of speakers should be activism and learning experiences to bring communities together to promote concrete measures that favor peace and climate justice. Here are coming steps to help. Working committees: Sign up to join one of the working committees. Coverage of travel expenses. The plenary voiced support of paying at best for two or three to travel from each distant country as representatives to the youth summit. To qualify for travel expenses, one requirement is to gather 50 to 100 signatures for any single petition now supported by PCJ. By signing up various individuals onto a single petition, gathered directly online or on paper and then entered online, a special field in Action Network has been developed called "Info helper". The information helper will enter as well his or her name as an email. This approach is urged to show you connect with your community, to help bring people together to make the change we need for peace and climate justice! The transportation mode selected will be based around the budget. Watch parties: Organize a watch party with friends and a shared screen in your African town or city. Link up with the August PCJ Youth Summit, with the 30 to 100 participants at the summit. Questions can be asked or discussed with speakers. Captions will be offered to zoom watch party attendees.
