However, here we are, a full year later, and nothing has changed. We should be celebrating the anniversary of a waiver of IP barriers restricting COVID vaccine, test and treatment production. We should be celebrating a year of accessible lifesaving tests, treatments, and vaccines. We should be celebrating the end of the COVID pandemic. Instead, we are forced to mourn the deaths of the countless lives lost as a result of continued inaction. Ahead of Biden’s Global Vaccine Summit on May 12, we will come together at the South Gate of the Texas Capitol for the unhappy birthday of Biden’s vaccine promise to highlight the absurdity of this ongoing pandemic and the urgency of global vaccine, test and treatment equity.
