"description": "Too often people in our communities have begun to lose faith in democracy, believing that whoever gets in, nothing changes. When people feel disempowered, and not listened to, they are more likely to look for, or accept, scapegoats, but when they are actively involved in advocating for their community, they are more likely to look for actual solutions. So how do we organise our communities such that we move people from passive grumbling and blaming, to active changemaking, and ensure that when our communities speak those with power listen? This session explores how we rebuild that sense of accountability that has been undermined. Join this 2nd in a series of 3 interactive workshops, run for the people of Birmingham, by the Ella Baker School of Organising, in partnership with the Birmingham City Council, free and online, on Wednesday 17th June from 12.30 - 2pm.
