"description": "IT'S RECESS! CAN CHRIS COME OUT? RALLY #11 - 4/11 -11:30-12:30, 128 Main St.- NO PARKING IN OFFICE LOT - RALLY GOAL- secure town hall meeting with Rep Collins who, to date, has never had one. To that end please sign this petition - http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/requesting-town-hall-1?source=c.em&r_by=17948802 We've rallied every Tuesday for 10 weeks at Collins' Geneseo office & continue through 4/25. If, by that time, no meeting - we stage a Town Hall in Geneseo on Sat. or Sun 3-5pm 6/3 or 6/4 respectively with or without Collins POST RALLY MEETING-WADWORTH LIBRARY (2 blocks from rally) - 12:30-2 - agenda-plan town hall -TOWN HALL PLANS THUS FAR - TENTATIVES DATES - SAT. 6/3 or SUN. 6/4 - 3-5 in GENESEO - NEXT HOUSE RECESSES - April - 4/7-24, May/June - 5/26 - 6/5 - C27 FACEBOOK PAGE - https://www.facebook.com/pg/LookingForChrisCollins/ TOWN HALL PLANS THUS FAR - TENTATIVES DATES - SAT. 6/3 or SUN. 6/4 - 3-5 in GENESEO STATE BUDGET DELAYED 2 MONTHS - WE NOW HAVE TIME TO LOBBY FOR ISSUES BELOW STATE BUDGET - MESSaGE FROM BARBARA BAER - 4/1 New York votes on a budget of approximately $155 billion. The New York State budget has a huge impact on all of us and many of you campaigned (A 133rd 2016) with me on the following topics: · Ride-sharing in Upstate New York – Ride-sharing services such as Uber are a necessity as an economic development tool, a means of transportation for seniors, a way to lower DUI infractions, and a substitute for public transportation. · College tuition debate – We have a choice between Governor Cuomo's free-tuition plan for families making under $125,000 and the Senate's proposal to increase Enhanced Tuition Assistance Program income eligibility to $125,000. (I support the free-tuition option.) · The Millionaire's Tax – reduces income inequality and bring in much-needed revenue, while middle-income tax cuts will continue to help grow our middle class. · Senior aid – The Assembly voted to help seniors stay in their own homes by increasing funding for numerous senior housing options. It also provides funding to help with drug costs and increases funding for senior care services like transportation. The Senate & Executive branch need to catch up. · Agriculture industry development – The Farm to Food Bank Bill, a tax credit for farmers who donate substantially to food banks, should finally be passed. Funding for other credits, such as the refundable investment tax credit, which assists farms looking to reinvest in the down farm economy, are under discussion. · Ethics Reform – Has the issue disappeared? Governor Cuomo proposed term limits, banning of private sector incomes for legislators, and limits on contributions through capitol LLCs. The Legislature has been quiet on these key ethics reform issues. Cuomo’s leverage diminishes after budget talks, so we must push the Legislature now. I support these priorities, but — more importantly — I hope that you will seek out more information on the issues within the budget that affect you and contact your representatives to voice your opinion. The Senate number is 518-455-3800, the Assembly number is 518-455-4100, and the Executive branch is 518-474-8390. We have seen from the Washington drama that our voices can affect change. Are we exhausted yet? NO, (well. yeah...but) we will keep this up through, at the least, the end of the first 100 days of the administration. And, btw, when you take an oath of office at the federal level, Mr. Collins, you don't just represent people in your district. The laws you pass affect the whole country and/or the world. So everyone is welcome at our rallies regardless of location and you need to answer to them as well. What a scaredy cat! Come prepared to take action and meet others who are working to resist Trump's agenda. You can engage in your free time, and there are ways for everybody to participate. We’ll be encouraging our Members of Congress in Senate and House to represent us, not Trump. If we stand together, indivisible, we will win. Welcome to the resistance!",
