"description": "Photo Credit: Ben Israel While youth involvement in the climate movement has endured for many decades, it reached a new peak in recent years, led by climate activists such as Alexandria Villaseñor, Jamie Margolin, Nadia Nazar, and Greta Thunberg. These brazen youth have called for bold and systemic social change to address the existential threat to their future that is the climate crisis. The youth climate movement culminated in the September 20th, 2019 Climate Strike, which had global participation of roughly 4 million people. This movement would not be possible without thousands of individuals stepping up to lead their communities and demand climate action. Join us on Thursday, January 23rd for a moderated panel discussion with some of the D.C. region's most impactful young climate activists. Panelists will include individual youth and leaders from local youth climate organizations. They will discuss the differing strategies they use to take action on the climate crisis and how anyone, regardless of age, can be a climate champion. We encourage both youth and adults with any level of climate change experience to attend. Those who are just starting out and want to learn more will be welcome to engage and find out how to get involved in local climate action. Environmental/climate change professionals will also benefit from the chance to incorporate diverse perspectives and strategies into their daily work.",
