This shop has 100 members that are employed as groundskeepers and in trade roles like electricians, carpenters, locksmiths, painters, and HVAC mechanics. Winning a settlement with Tufts will set the upper limit of what is achievable at MIT, Northeastern, BU, and other universities in the area that employ about 1.7k union members. The workers main goals are family sustaining living wage increase, reducing healthcare premiums, union training and legal funds, and protections for immigrant members.
