"description": "We are disappointed that the Onondaga County Legislature voted not to create a citizen-led independent redistricting commission. However we are proud of the 100 people who came to our rally, the speakers at the rally, and the 9 ordinary citizens who spoke up at the County Legislature as well as the 6 legislators who kept their pledge. We are also proud of the hundreds of people who've taken action, contacted their legislators, participated in our petition drives, and written Letters to the Editor; and the thousands who've signed out petition to end gerrymandering by creating a citizen-led independent redistricting commission. Our pledge to you is this: This fight is not over. We will continue to work with the City of Syracuse on their independent commission which will be a shining example of transparency. We will continue to monitor the County legislature process and the maps they come up with in 2021. Please join us at 6pm on July 22 at the Homer Wheaton Park Pavilion at the corner of Mountainview and Ball Aves to meet about what comes next. * We will meet outside in open air and request that everyone wear masks, bring hand sanitizer, and respect social distancing. In case of rain, and alternate location will be announced,",
