"description": "The Greater Baltimore Democratic Socialists of America (GBDSA) is announcing its general election organizing launch on July 27, 2026 at 5:30pm. The launch will take place at Druid Hill Park at the Chinese Pavilion with speakers from the coalition talking about what the 100 days until Election Day will hold, followed by a canvass launch in the immediate area. The team will be knocking doors and talking to voters about DSA's endorsed candidates and campaigns, what democratic socialism means, and talking with working class people to see what they want for themselves and the community. On June 23rd, Ash Esposito received the most votes of any candidate on the ballot in her race, earning a commanding 26% of the vote among seven candidates, demonstrating the way socialist values connect with everyday Baltimoreans. The Baby Fund, started by Baltimore City Teachers, has just reached their signature goal to qualify for the November ballot for the second time in a row. Last year, they were challenged in court by the Mayor’s office. This year they fully expect their measure to be presented to Baltimore City voters in November. GBDSA is bringing together not only endorsed candidates like Ashley Esposito for Board of Education and ballot initiatives like the Baby Fund, but also worker struggles like the Baltimore Teachers Union's campaign for more planning time, because we see them as one common struggle for future generations.",
