"description": "Inspired by the #GreenSockMovement – this is the first BGP Green Gear Hike - and it’s all about carrying out environmental good while dressed in green. Donning as many green clothes as we can find, we’ll be carrying a couple of litter pickers and rubbish bags as we make our way up and down Rivington Pike for a spring walk. At the summit we’ll enjoy sweeping views of the West Pennine Moors and on a clear day – Blackpool Tower and the Welsh mountains. Difficulty – A relatively easy walk with undulating terrain and rough tracks that could be muddy. Route Meeting outside The Bridge Hotel. Continuing through Bridge Street Local Nature Reserve and ascending from the ginnel adjacent to Factory Hill, up to Poppywood Alpaca Farm, then through the woods north of Brinks Row, on to George’s Lane, passing the Pike Snack Shack. Follow on up to the summit of the Pike. Back down through Rivington Terraced Gardens to Rivington Hall Barn, along Brere’s Meadow and Rivington Country Park to Lever Park Avenue. Ending at The Crown pub in Horwich.",
