"description": "Want practice talking about socialism in ways that resonate with family, friends, coworkers, and other potential socialists? Sign up to attend the in-person (at the Shaw Library) “How to Talk About Socialism” training this coming Thursday 10/26 @ 6 pm, the third session in our new Nuts and Bolts training series, to practice and talk through what socialism is. At the training, you will go through exercises explaining socialism, ask questions of the trainers, and how to differentiate it from the capitalist system we live under. https://forms.gle/n5xithYgJS2CTWxf7 Many more people now say they are socialists. But what does that mean? How should we talk with people who are new to or curious about socialism? We think every DSA member should feel confident about these sorts of conversations, but that requires learning and practice. In this workshop, we will learn about how to talk about socialism with people that are new to DSA or a working group, or with the people in your life beyond DSA. What are some of the challenges or pitfalls to these conversations, and how can we work around them? This is the third of six sessions in the Nuts and Bolts training series, which meets on Thursdays in October and November, with all sessions providing practical training designed to empower people to organize better within and beyond the chapter. The future sessions are all online, on "Power Mapping" (11/2), "How to Hold Effective Meetings" (11/9) and "How to Host a Great Event for Socialists" (11/16). We already hosted “Metro DC DSA 101” on October 12 and “Social Media and Comms for Socialists” on October 19, both online. Feel free to sign up for just one of those sessions, or you can attend some or all of them. https://forms.gle/n5xithYgJS2CTWxf7",
