"description": "Sat Nov 7 is a Europe wide day of action against data centres We are calling for a pause in the race to build the hyper-scale data-centres that lie behind the Artificial Intelligence (AI) ‘revolution’. So far, two locations have been identified in Nottinghamshire – Cottam and Radcliffe on Soar – both are enormous and expected to consume 1 Giga Watt of electricity each (the same as 1 million 1KW kettles). Many people across Europe are very worried about the impact of these huge buildings, their threat to energy and water supplies and the lack of public consultation in the race to build them across the UK and wider. Do join local activists at our protest at County Hall, Loughborough Road, 11:00-12:00 midday on Saturday 7 November. We will assemble in front of the main entrance. We are calling on the UK Government to declare a moratorium on hyper-scale data centre development until there has been an informed public debate and comprehensive impact assessments made available to the public.",
