Resulting from community activism, the Ithaca Green New Deal sets two ambitious goals for climate justice action in the City of Ithaca: to achieve community-wide carbon neutrality by 2030 and to ensure that the benefits are shared among all local communities to reduce historical, social, and economic inequities. The proposed Justice50 framework seeks to work towards the second goal by ensuring that funds go to those who will be most impacted by climate change, including BIPOC, low-income, unhoused, disabled, undocumented immigrants, and other disadvantaged communities. Come learn about this program and provide feedback on how the City can better serve the needs of your community.
