"description": "Since taking office in January, the Trump administration — backed by congressional Republicans — has launched an unprecedented assault on the basic social safety net millions of New Yorkers rely on. Through executive orders, regulatory rollbacks, agency cuts, and the passage of HR 1, they have targeted SNAP, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, supportive housing programs, and other essential services that keep our communities fed, housed, and healthy. These attacks are already causing real harm. Families are losing food assistance. People are being pushed out of their homes. Healthcare access is shrinking. And state and local governments are being forced to absorb the fallout, with low‑income communities bearing the brunt. On February 28, we’re gathering to say ENOUGH. We refuse to accept crumbs while our neighbors go hungry, unhoused, and uninsured. We demand bold, immediate action from New York State and New York City to protect our communities and fully fund the programs that keep us alive.
