Banks are more susceptible to public pressure than the oil and gas giants. From now until December 31, 2016, we are asking tens of thousands of individuals remove their funds from the banks funding the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) and move their money into a local, federal credit union, or another alternative bank with a good humanitarian and environmental record. If you bank with any of the institutions listed below, please remove your support of any ongoing violence against Native American communities, treaty-breaking, desecration of sacred grounds and our environment and drinking water by transferring your funds OUT of the banks that are pushing DAPL forward. When the bank teller asks why you are closing your account with any of the below banks, make sure you note that you are removing your financial support of the bank until it removes its support and funding of the Dakota Access Pipeline. If asked for more specific demands of the bank, please make sure to outline the following: - Divest from Energy Transfer Partners, the parent company of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
