"description": "Join us at our monthly Green Gathering on Monday 12th October at 7:30pm! The event is being recorded. By attending you consent to possibly being included in photography, video and /or audio recording which may be published publicly. If you do not want to be recorded, please make yourself known to the organisers. Henri Baptiste is co-founder and Director of Pathway Housing Solutions (PHS), an emerging community housing organisation based in the East Midlands. A grassroots organisation, PHS researches social justice issues and uses its findings to develop and deliver housing and homelessness and tenancy support services while advocating for systemic change. Henri serves on a number of national and regional networks including the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ending Homelessness and the East Midlands Homelessness Taskforce. He has also spoken about Black homelessness at a Pan-European conference in Warsaw and before the Parliamentary Inquiry into Black Homelessness. Pathway Housing Solutions lobbies and campaigns for Community-Led Housing, seeing it as an ethical, resident led and alternative way to provide homes, by communities for communities. For October's Green Gathering, Henri will be exploring how community-led housing can bring empty homes and underused land and buildings back into productive use to enable residents to shape sustainable, inclusive neighbourhoods. Participants will hear about a campaign to encourage councils and other public bodies to work with communities when selling public assets, and PHS’s work with housing associations to develop homes for local residents. This session will focus on practical experience: what works, what does not, best practice and case studies, and what is needed to support successful community-led housing. The format will prioritise meaningful discussion, presentations and shared learning. We're meeting both in-person in the city centre, and online over Zoom! Please RSVP for email reminders and meeting details. If you'd like to attend, we aim to foster as welcoming and inclusive an environment as possible. If you have any accessibility requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.",
