"description": "Ohio votes early! Poll monitors are needed at the Boards of Elections between October 6 and November 2.   As a non-partisan poll monitor your job is to assist voters and ensure safe and accessible elections. Poll monitors are needed to stand outside of the early vote center to answer voter questions, distribute fliers with voter education, and report problems to the Election Protection Hotline. Note: The public health crisis is changing our elections and our Election Protection program. If you prefer “minimal-contact” volunteer options, please consider being an Election Ambassador or a Social Media Monitor. Alternatively, if you are willing to wear a mask and assist voters, continue signing up here to be a poll monitor. Our priority will be assisting voters in places that have historically had the most problems in: Akron, Athens, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo and Youngstown. This effort is led by the Ohio Voter Rights Coalition, a network of nonpartisan voter advocates including ACLU of Ohio, All Voting is Local, Common Cause Ohio, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights under Law, League of Women Voters of Ohio, and more. Poll Monitor Requirements:   Participate in this 90 minute online training Complete a minimum 2 hour shift assignment at the early voting location Poll Monitor Election Day Duties: Distribute “Know Your Rights” cards to voters Answer basic questions from voters such as ID requirements Report back to regional command center any problems that need to be resolved such as voter intimidation or a pattern of poll worker error Training will cover: how to answer common voter questions, how to assist voters through the voting process, and how to communicate problems to the Election Protection Hotline.",
