"description": "We are delighted that two of the Standing Together leaders will be joining us on Wednesday, February 4th at 6pm. Standing Together is a progressive grassroots movement organising Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel against the occupation and for peace, equality, and social justice. We are keen to hear what they been doing and how they consider recent controversies. Sally Abed is a Palestinian citizen of Israel who grew up in an Arab-Palestinian community in western Galilee. She joined Standing Together in 2015. In 2024, she was elected as a municipal councillor in Haifa, as part of a slate with other grassroots community campaigners. Uri Weltmann is National Field Organizer for Standing Together, and a founding member of the movement in 2015. A long-time peace and anti-occupation activist, he also has a background in neighbourhood community organising and LGBT political organising. Born 1984, he lives in Tel-Aviv with his partner and their two daughters. A teacher by profession, he enjoys Maths and Marxism. Their talks will be followed by a Q&A.",
