"description": "In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that has already taken the lives of over 27,675 Pennsylvanians and caused over 1.1 million job losses in PA, some of our PA State Legislators are spending their time and energy introducing legislation that attacks vulnerable trans youth instead of working to ensure our communities are healthy or working to bring jobs back and help the economy recover. What’s worse: this legislation (HB972) isn’t responding to a real issue that Pennsylvanians are facing, but is almost word-for-word the same legislation written by extremist Think Tanks outside of PA and introduced in states like Alabama and Arkansas. We are meeting on the State Capitol Front Steps in Harrisburg to show our support for trans youth and to tell legislators: #DoYourJob, and back off of targeting vulnerable kids in schools! Anyone who supports equality and fairness in our schools is invited to join us and make your voices heard. HB972 makes PA’s schools into a hostile environment for trans kids that will increase levels of self harm and suicide for our kids in school. Let's send a message loud and clear: trans youth are welcome here! We will have masks and hand sanitizer available and will encourage everyone to stay socially distanced (6 ft apart) during the event. Outdoor events with plenty of ventilation are shown to be safer and less likely to spread Covid-19. We will be out there rain or shine so dress accordingly for the weather!",
