"description": "Our last session in the public housing and public banking series is about the solutions and how we'd start getting there. We'll make the case for two things. First, a state public bank that lends to co-ops and nonprofits building social housing at lower rates, and gives Maine a way to finance projects without going through Wall Street. Second, a public housing program like Vienna's, where the city/state builds and owns the housing itself instead of paying private developers to do it. We see both as first steps in a longer fight for democratically controlled finance and housing that isn't run for profit. New folks are welcome. You don't need to have made the earlier sessions. We'll be on Zoom. RSVP and we'll email you the link before the call. RSVP for the Zoom link",
