"description": "Nurses and patients deserve better! The RWJ Hospital System is trying to force reductions in the quality of working conditions on all the hospitals in the system, but nurses organized with New Jersey Nurses Union, CWA Local 1091 are fighting back in our contract negotiations. We are asking every nurse at CBMC and all of our community supporters to come to a rally on October 28th to show that we won't accept RWJ's cuts, and that our working conditions are our patients' care conditions! Management at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center recently proposed a new Paid Time Off system for nurses that would drastically reduce the amount of time nurses are able to earn throughout the year - including reducing sick time to just the state-mandated 40 hours, which covers just 3 shifts a year for many working nurses. This is a vitally-needed resource for frontline workers who are exposed to illness on a daily basis as a condition of providing care to our patients. NJNU - CWA 1091 has been fighting similar cuts in contract negotiations for nurses at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus and Barnabas Behavioral Health Center, and nurses from these facilities will be present at the rally to stand in solidarity as one union. Join us, and bring anyone in your life who has been impacted by the care that nurses at CBMC are providing to our community every day! Parking for this event will be at Trinity Covenant Church (343 E Cedar St Livingston, NJ 07039). We will also be hosting a drop-in poster-making session at Trinity Church on Monday, September 26th from 12pm to 6pm. Please join us for however long you can and help make posters in community with your fellow union nurses!",
