	"description": "We&#x27;re gearing up for an important election season for housing justice in California! Come out this Thursday to learn how to get involved!! This November&#x27;s statewide ballot will include Prop 5, to help public funding for housing and Prop 33, for stronger rent control. Locally we&#x27;re also in the midst of a historic fight for stronger city-wide rent control, and we have two new city council candidates who are tenacious tenant advocates!! Our Power to the Tenants campaign will spend the next several months working to push forward all of these important initiatives, and to build a base that can forcefully reject Gov. Newsom&#x27;s cruel plans for the further criminalization of unhoused folks. As we carry out this work we&#x27;re also developing our own political education. This Thursday our (very chill) reading and discussion group will meet to talk about a couple of articles on some history and current issues in LA housing.
