"description": "After over a century of Chevron's pollution, in 2024 the City of Richmond secured a $550 million settlement from Chevron. This victory would not have been possible without the power built by decades of community organizing from directly impacted Richmond residents. Following this historic community win, CBE is working with frontline community members, ally organizations, and progressive council members to ensure that these funds benefit those most impacted by Chevron’s pollution. Richmond is a working-class community with families who struggle to meet basic needs. We have so many potholes that go unfilled, our fire departments are short-staffed, and our parks and libraries are struggling to stay open while Chevron rakes in billions of profits. A settlement isn't a fix-all solution, but this is an opportunity to invest in communities that have been harmed. Join us to learn more and get involved in the next phase of our Richmond Polluters Pay campaign!",
