The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) here in Hudson County are leading a coalition of community organizations to win Right-to-Counsel, a policy that would guarantee every Jersey City renter legal defense in landlord-tenant court. Winning this reform is crucial to fighting against unfair evictions, combatting harassment from landlords, and building a movement of working people to make Jersey City ours -- not the developers&#x27;. Nationwide, when facing eviction, on average, only 3% of tenants are represented in housing court, compared to 81% of landlords. Housing is a human right and no one should have to go up in an unfair fight for their homes. It&#x27;s time Jersey City level the playing field. We need to guarantee the right to counsel for ALL tenants. How are we going to get this passed? How will it be funded? What can you do to be involved?
