	"description": "Scientists Speak Out Rally and Teach-In July 19, San Francisco Bay Area, is still being planned. Sign up now to be updated when we have secured our venue and have lined up our presenters! Contact us if you are interested in presenting. We are working on securing a venue in San Francisco or the East Bay. This will be one of the first big gatherings near the launch of Stop Billionaires Summer. We envision an event that will begin with a rally, where the arriving audience will listen to a series of speakers, interspersed with a few musicians and skits. Most speakers will be scientists and other academics, who will talk about the climate crisis, concerns about the rise of authoritarianism and oligarchy, concerns and consequences of attacks on science and academic freedom, and research on effective nonviolent civil resistance. After the rally, audience will have the opportunity to choose among five different teach-ins (mostly 20-minute sessions on similar topics, by rally presenters and other academics or movement leaders), held at different tables dispersed around the edge of the space. There will probably be a second and perhaps a third round of teach-ins, with time in between for participants to relocate to be closer to the teach-in table of their choice.",
