"description": "With co-sponsorship with the Rockland Coalition to End the New Jim Crow, we are excited to host a screening of the biographical documentary “Across Enemy Lines”, which details the life of New Afrikan revolutionary organizer and political prisoner Shaka Shakur and his current incarceration at Beaumont Correctional Facility in Virginia following his conviction in 2002. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with New Afrikan revolutionaries working on Shaka Shakur's Freedom Campaign online and in-person, including Derek Ford, an activist and organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation, will be in attendance at the event. . . . The film is said to provide a concise view of our nation’s system of mass incarceration while focusing on Shaka’s plight and struggle. Through this viewing and the subsequent discussions, we will learn how Shaka’s prison experiences influenced his politics, what we can all do to bring Shaka home, and how our overarching goals of prison abolition best guide our actions against our current carceral system.",
