"description": "Please join the Citywide Political Education Committee for the third session of Socialism 201, April 9nd, Thursday, 7 – 8:30 pm, at the home of one of our Citywide Political Education Committee members. This class meeting is open to everyone. There is no need to have attended the prior sessions. There is no “required” reading. We will examine ideas set out in the recommended readings, and if you have time that we encourage you to read them get more out of the class discussion. However, everyone is welcome, and regardless of your familiarity with the readings you will find the discussion useful and illuminating. Our third session focusses on examining different theories of change and how to change the world. We'll cover different strategies of transformation like ruptural transformations, interstatial transformations, and symbiotic transformations. In our discussions we will also discuss the three most common orientations to change: liberalism, ultraleftism, and mass action. Participants will learn how Marxists think about applying the theories we covered in the first two sessions in order to make changes to the world we live in. Class readings: “Erik Olin Wright, Envisioning Real Utopias" "Peter Camejo, Liberalism, ultraleftism, or mass action" "Brandon M. Terry, MLK Now" See also the attached study guide",
