"description": "Join CARI and our friends at Sierra Club MA and NOPE for an action hour to push back on pipeline expansion. There are three fracked gas pipeline expansion projects in various stages across Rhode Island and neighboring states threatening to disturb our lands, drive up our energy costs, and increase our reliance on polluting fossil fuels. During this action hour, we will learn about the three proposed expansions (AGTE/RARE, Project Beacon, and Cape Cod replacement), and spend some time writing public comments to submit on the state and federal processes for the the Algonquin Gas Transmission (AGTE). This proposed project seeks to replace 8 miles of 16" diameter pipe with 36" in Cumberland, Build a new 2 mile long 12" pipeline connection in Tiverton and Little Compton, and build a new 3 mile long 36" diameter pipeline loop in Burrillville (learn more here). At a time when we're seeing record heat, record costs, and the rollback of environmental protections at the federal level, its important to gain knowledge about these projects and how you can use your voice and take action to push back.",
