"description": "Trump, Republicans, the data center/AI and oil & gas industry and some Senate Democrats are pushing a dirty deal to gut federal laws that protect the public and the planet. Their proposal would gut foundational environmental and historic preservation laws: the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act and National Historic Preservation Act. The purpose of the bill is to make it vastly easier for corporate polluters to get the permits they seek to build new, highly-polluting infrastructure, including data centers and oil & gas pipelines. They want to pass it immediately after the election, in the "lame duck" Congress where public scrutiny is lowest. Senate Minority Leader Schumer should oppose, not support, moving the bill to the Senate floor. They plan to start Senate votes on the bill on the Monday after the midterm election to minimize public opposition. You can read more about this dirty deal here. Once we protest outside the Senator's building, we will walk to Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' office nearby to also send him a message: No dirty data center deal! Join us!",
