"description": "le français suit l'anglais Culture, Climate and the Sustainable Development Goals Thursday, April 13 Webinar, 12:00 -1:00 pm ET With Paolo Granata, Chair, #CultureforSDGs initiative, Canadian Commission for UNESCO With fewer than 10 years left to implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda, monitoring, measuring and incorporating culture into the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is as urgent as ever. The cultural sector can play a critical role in supporting the achievement of the SDGs. In fact, the Goals are an incredible opportunity for cultural professionals to work with one another, with their communities and collaborators, and with other sectors to mobilize the transformative power of cultural heritage and creativity. Join us on April 13 to hear from Paolo Granata at the Canadian Commission for UNESCO about the #CultureForSDGS Toolkit and how your organization’s work can align with the SDGs framework. The toolkit was developed specifically for cultural and heritage organizations in Canada and offers information and tips for how to integrate the SDGs into the work of your organization. In this webinar, Paolo will take you through the toolkit and answer all your questions. Culture’s role in sustainable development cuts across many of the 2030 Agenda’s Goals and Targets. Although no single Goal is devoted to culture, culture is both a means and an end to sustainable development. About the speaker Paolo Granata is an Associate Professor in Book and Media Studies at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto. As an educator, an innovator, and a cross-disciplinary media scholar – nurtured by the century-old tradition of his Alma Mater, the University of Bologna – his research and teaching interests lie broadly in the areas of media ecology, media ethics, semiotics, print culture, and visual studies. As a board member of the Executive Committee at the Canadian Commission for UNESCO since 2018, his advocacy efforts are focused on digital equity and digital sustainability, to explore the potential that information and communication technologies hold for enacting positive social change. He is also the Chair of the #CultureForSDGs initiative (forthcoming October 2022), sponsored by the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. Culture, climat et objectifs de développement durable",
