"description": "Join Pine Belt Humanists as we volunteer at Southern Pines Animal Shelter's annual Barktoberfest! Barktoberfest is an annual event that brings together pet adoptions, a fall festival, a Trunk or Treat, and other fun activities for families across the Pine Belt. It's a fun opportunity to give back to our community while helping homeless pets find loving homes and helping the shelter raise much-needed funds. Pine Belt Humanists will be volunteering throughout the event, with opportunities to donate candy, decorate and host Trunk or Treat vehicles, help with face painting, and lend a hand wherever it's needed. Whether you can volunteer for a couple of hours or stay longer, we'd love to have you join our team. In addition to RSVPing here, please complete the Southern Pines form, so they can best plan for the event. This is a wonderful opportunity to put humanist values into action by serving our neighbors, supporting animal welfare, and helping create a fun, welcoming experience for local families. Whether you've been a humanist for years or you're simply looking for a local secular community that enjoys making a positive difference, we'd love to have you join us. We hope to see you there!",
