"description": "***This a ticketed event with limited RSVPs buy yours now!*** A May Day Fundraiser in support of the left labor coalition. Join NYC-DSA to celebrate the international solidarity of the working class by supporting three Democratic Socailists campaigns. Conrad Blackburn, Darializa Avila Chevalier, and Illapa Sairitupac are democratic socialists running in Manhattan to strengthen the working class and labor unions from New York City to Albany to Washington. Join us to celebrate May Day and send these three incredible labor champions to office. Conrad is a public defender, labor leader, and democratic socialist running for State Assembly District 70 in Central and West Harlem. He organized his union with UAW, transforming a scab shop into a 400 person strong, wall-to-wall unit. Conrad has proudly served on the Executive Board of his chapter since winning the union in 2020 and is a proud member of ALAA 2325. Illapa is a tenant organizer strengthening protections for tenants on the Lower East Side. The proud son of Peruvian immigrants, Illapa has stood up as an anti-ICE activist. His working class campaign and willingness to stand up to bosses and billionaires has resonated with endorsing labor unions like 32BJ, HTC, The District Council of Carpenters, and UAW Region 9A. Illapa, himself, is a proud former member of the National Writers Union. Darializa is a working-class Afro-Latina running for Congress in NY13 who has been organizing in upper Manhattan for a fairer, more equitable, and more affordable New York City since she was a teenager. She is currently a public defense investigator at the Neighborhood Defenders Services of Harlem. Through her work, she is a proud card-carrying member of the UAW.",
