"description": "Author, filmmaker, and physician Alice Rothchild has traveled to Gaza four times, the last visit in August 2023. In this online Zoom webinar on February 27, Alice will give a brief background on Gaza and then a detailed description of the current destruction of much of the infrastructure and health care system and the impact on civilians in the ongoing war. Dr. Alice Rothchild, author, filmmaker, and physician, is focused on human rights and social justice. She writes and lectures widely, authored several books on health and human rights in Israel/Palestine, including Broken Promises, Broken Dreams: Stories of Jewish and Palestinian Trauma and Resilience and Condition Critical: Life and Death in Israel/Palestine, contributed to a number of anthologies, the most recent being Reclaiming Judaism from Zionism: Stories of Personal Transformation and What Jerusalem Means to Us: Jewish Reflections and Perspectives. Finding Melody Sullivan, is her young adult novel exploring grief and friendship in the setting of broader political questions raised by realities in Israel/Palestine, available in print and as an audio book. Old Enough to Know, her middle grade novel, is about a nine-year-old Palestinian American boy and his grandmother from the Aida Refugee Camp. For more info: www.alicerothchildbooks.com.
