"description": "It’s been a rough ride recently for those of us who care about our environment, avoiding the worst effects of climate change and promoting social justice. We’ve seen Rishi Sunak abandon key net-zero pledges, declare war on traffic-calming measures that help to keep us all safe and grant a licence for the largest ever new oil and gas field, while we have seen climate breakdown reach devastating new levels. Where is Labour in all of this? They have said they will honour the new licence at Rosebank and have also ditched their proposed £28 billion package for a green transition. We need Green councillors more than ever, at every single level of government. That starts with our local council here in Norwich. In Wensum ward, we won a seat from Labour by just 22 votes, as we rose to 13 seats on the council as the official opposition. Labour are still yet to make any real progress on retrofitting council homes in the city and refuse to speak out against their national leader who has abandoned any green credentials the party had. We need your help to gain the second seat in Wensum ward, but they will be fighting us tooth and nail so the work is starting right now. We don’t have time to waste. Join us for our action day on Saturday 28th October from 10am, venue to be confirmed. Help us to deliver leaflets or knock on doors and speak to voters about why they should vote Green. By coming along at 10am on the 28th, you can make a difference to our campaign and then still have most of your Saturday to enjoy! If you are not sure about door-knocking, there will be a full briefing and you can go out with an experienced activist, or you can deliver leaflets for us. With 22 votes between us and Labour, every person joining us will really be helping to elect more Green councillors and ensuring that climate change, the environment and social justice and clearly at the top of the agenda for the general election.",
