"description": "On International Women's Day (8 March), UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) will launch a global digital activation campaign to drive shared ownership of the 10-year Belem Gender Action Plan, which was finalised and agreed at COP30 in Brazil. Because real progress happens when we all come together. Women, women’s organisations and supporters are invited to share how are we, our organisation/s, or our community are championing gender equality and climate action? The WCC has responded by creating the first of our flagship Women's Climate Conversations online events for 2026, as an International Women's Month special event featuring Fleur Newman who is the UNFCCC Unit Lead for Gender, Children and Youth and ACE (Action for Climate Empowerment). Fleur (an Australian from Perth who is currently based in Bonn) has been following the work we do to engage women at all levels from grassroots to federal parliament and has agreed to lead this conversation about the new 10-year Gender Action Plan (GAP), which was finalised and agreed COP30 to replace the previous plan agreed as part of the Paris Agreement in 2015. Fleur will be in conversation with Australian leaders in gender equality and climate action (TBC), and WCC Founder, Dr Janet Salisbury. Further information and speaker bios are on our website at: https://womensclimatecongress.com/womens-climate-conversations. WCC is a volunteer-led organisation with big ambition! While this is a free event to support inclusion, a donation to support our work would be appreciated. Recommended donation: $10–20 Donate here",
