"description": "... The Georgia Alliance for Social Justice (GAFSJ) has joined forces once again with the Women’s March to celebrate the 3rd Annual Women’s March on Washington (WMW), Saturday, January 19, 2019. Our team will be traveling to Washington on Friday, January 18 and returning Sunday, January 20. We are staying at the Hyatt Place, White House just a few short blocks from the start of the march. We hope that you can join us. For those who cannot travel to DC, GAFSJ will organize a “Women's Day of Service” January 19. GAFSJ is an official co-sponsor of the historic Atlanta Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemorative march and activities. After the WMW, we will return to Georgia to March with our state in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 21, 2019. GAFSJ’s extensive statewide network is working to organize Georgia women and their allies to our Nation’s capital. We will release details regarding volunteer opportunities and transportation options in the coming weeks. There will not be a Women’s March in Atlanta that weekend. This decision was made to ensure appropriate attention and attendance to the MLK March on Monday, January 21. Our organization, founded upon the Kingian Principles, does not wish to take away from the celebrations of his life and legacy. We are asking for people to commit to a day of service January 19 with local organizations as a means of including Dr. King’s legacy in their resistance. There will also be a Youth Summit held in Atlanta on the Saturday of the Women’s March on Washington. We invite you to march with us on Monday, January 21 to celebrate our anniversary. Georgia Alliance for Social Justice is still very focused on the upcoming election. We ask our members to be patient as we enter the final stretch and continue to rally and support all of the wonderful candidates running throughout the state of Georgia. Please use the next few weeks to help get good candidates elected and don’t forget to vote! Further Women’s March on Washington details will be forthcoming.",
