The annual march which is held on Valentine&#x27;s Day, serves to bring visibility and raise awareness to the ongoing epidemic of Missing &amp;amp; Murdered Indigenous Women including Girls, 2 Spirit and Relatives. “Lack of awareness is a problem,” Shawn Carr, who attended the march, said. “People don’t realize that Native women are disproportionately represented in missing and murdered women” “The event began with a Red Ribbon memorial where family members shared. A Red Shawl honor round dance was held with community members and the Sacred Hoop Coalition in support of families of lost loved ones. Afterwards community marched from the American Indian Community Housing Organization through downtown Duluth ending at the Building for Women” - said Rene Ann Goodrich, Native Lives Matter Coalition, event host and march organizer. Photo:Ivy Vainio This year was an art collaboration with All My Relations Art and NACDI (Native American Community Development Institute) - “Bring Her Home”, to help bring awareness and sharing art that is being used for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women’s events across the state. The focus will examine causes, annual reporting, and prevention of the ongoing violence against indigenous women, girls and 2 spirited. Indigenous Women lead this years Women&#x27;s Wave MN march Jan 19th to rallying support for the new legislation. Speakers at the Feb 14th event shared updates on the new legislation with the community.
