"description": "2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the Democratic Socialists of America serving as a political organization, funded and run democratically by members, that seeks to build a mass movement and transfer power to the working class, and gain democratic control over all aspects of our society. We have seen DSA transformed from an organization of 5,000 in 2016, to nearly 20x that only five years later. As the largest socialist organization in the country, we have a duty to grow and develop our members and build a commitment to the socialist vision outlined by our national platform. Actualizing our vision for a better world requires us to organize the working class: by recruiting and retaining members who can carry out this necessary work. That's why we're plugging into national DSA’s Spring Recommitment Drive. We're going to reach out to expired and lapsed members, and connect dues to local priorities and national campaigns. The goal of the Drive is not only to grow but to develop our existing membership. Many of our members joined only in the last two years, and many others have been dealing with burnout and disconnect due to the pandemic. This Drive will give members the opportunity to share what it means to be a DSA member, why we've joined and why we've stayed. This Drive is a chance to re-energize our chapter, define the ways that members and non-members alike can plug into campaigns, while membership renewals will fund and support ongoing local and national-level work. This Drive will increase our organizational capacity to win. Join our chapter team for the Recommitment Drive, and please share what skills you might be able to contribute to the Drive.",
