	"description": "Big Tech oligarchs are trying to reshape our country. They’re rapidly expanding unregulated data centers, which consume massive amounts of water, dirty energy, and land. For example, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning a data center the size of Manhattan. Oracle and OpenAI CEOs are pushing through a data center near my community that will use millions of gallons of water daily and as much energy as 1 million homes. Communities near data centers are suffering from extremely loud noise pollution and toxic pollution of their air, water, and soil. Their utility rates have gone way up to make up for data centers’ strain on the electric grid, with increases as high as 270 percent. Americans already struggle to pay for the basics. Data centers are taking our tax dollars in the form of huge tax breaks, making our lives more expensive—all so billionaires can accumulate more wealth and power. Although local communities and states are taking action, Republican lawmakers and powerful billionaires are trying to silence us by reversing or overriding local communities’ decisions about data centers. To protect the American people and our planet, we need nationwide action, especially a nationwide moratorium. Please add your name to demand Members of Congress cosponsor and pass the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Center Moratorium Act, to halt our country’s rapid AI data center expansion until we can put strong protections in place to protect jobs, our rights, our health, and our planet.",
