	"description": "On May 2nd, the collective bargaining agreement with the Writers Guild of America and production studios will expire. With over 20,000 members, the union represents writers working in the television and film industry. While Hollywood might seem glitzy and glamorous, a dream factory is still a factory. Writers in the entertainment industry are asking for fair pay and fair protections in the workplace, and you can read their demands here. As socialists, we must stand with workers when they withhold their labor and shutdown an industry in order to fight for their rights. These working writers are asking for our help and support - and it is time to show them we have their backs. That&#x27;s why DSA-LA is #StrikeReady when needed  - and we need you to join us! Please sign up to receive updates on the contract negotiations and how you can help! We&#x27;ll be looking to mobilize our membership to picket lines across the city if and when the time comes. And along with in-person strike support, we&#x27;re also excited to announce our fundraising campaign entitled The Snacklist! After the success of DSA-LA’s Tacos for Trabajadores campaign during the UTLA and SEIU strikes, DSA-LA is ready to recreate that effort to support workers on their picket lines. If a strike does happen, funds raised through The Snacklist will be used to deliver hot coffee, food, snacks, and other necessities to strikers in the Los Angeles area. If a strike does not occur, or there are leftover funds, your donation will be held by DSA-LA to support future labor fights in Los Angeles. There are many on the horizon!",
