"description": "Fossil Free Parliament is asking parliamentarians - MPs and Peers - to sign the following pledge to refuse financial and other benefits from the fossil fuel industry or organisations representing fossil fuel industry interests. Financial benefits are one of the primary methods that organisations use to influence parliamentarians. It creates a conflict of interest for parliamentarians to accept financial or other benefits from companies or individuals involved in the fossil fuel industry, or organisations representing fossil fuel industry interests (such as sector agencies or affiliated think tanks or pressure groups). When parliamentarians accept such benefits from the fossil fuel industry or its affiliates, they are both implicitly condoning the industry’s dangerous disregard for its role in accelerating the climate crisis and opening themselves up to further influence in favour of the industry’s interests. I do not and will not accept financial or other benefits from fossil fuel companies, or organisation representing fossil fuel industry interests, including but not limited to: Donations Gifts, benefits and hospitality Visits within or outside the UK Benefits in kind Benefits received as a member of an All-Party Parliamentary Group ***Please only complete this form if you are a current MP or Peer, work for one or have written evidence from your MP that they want you to sign on their behalf. If you have any questions, please contact: info@fossilfreeparliament.uk*** Notes ‘The fossil fuel industry’ are defined as companies generating more than 10% of their revenue from the exploration, production, refining or processing of coal, oil and fossil gas. ‘organisations representing fossil fuel industry interests’ may include lobbyists who are paid a fee to represent their interests or fossil fuel industry networks, pressure groups, or trade associations such as UKPIA. Fossil Free Parliament is supported by Friends of the Earth, but is primarily a grassroots campaign -the majority of decisions and actions are coordinated by a volunteer group of campaigners independently of Friends of the Earth.",
