	"description": "I just signed up to demand that congress declare a ceasefire to the war in Gaza! Why Target Congresspeople? There are three major reasons to target Congress: 1. Congress controls the purse strings. If the US government does not allocate emergency aid to Israel, or decreases military aid, it seriously hinders Israel’s ability to continue to murder Palestinians with impunity. 2. The President is influenced by members of his own party.  If a significant number of Democrats demand a ceasefire or a cutoff of aid, it will force the administration to change their position. 3. The Democrats are moveable on this issue, as the party is significantly out of step with the base, with 80% of Democratic voters supporting a ceasefire. What Do We Need to Do? We are asking you to go to the offices and homes of your Congresspeople and Senators.  We think Democrats, if they haven’t already supported a ceasefire, as mentioned above, are the most moveable, but we also encourage events at Republican offices if you are not represented by a Democrat.
