"description": "Many rural communities across the state are experiencing an increase in climate crisis impacts, including infrastructure insecurity (communications, internet and power), lack of access to food and clean water, and recovery from post-traumatic stress caused by devastating or frequent hurricanes and tornadoes. Furthermore, climate crises create intersectional impacts like access to housing, jobs and quality healthcare. Despite these gross impacts, so many communities are deeply underserved and under-resourced when it comes to mitigation and recovery. The physical, intellectual and emotional impacts of this dynamic must be assessed, and community-owned mitigation and recovery strategies must be established before climate conditions worsen, further exacerbating these impacts on human lives, land and wildlife. Please sign up to learn more about joining Hometown Organizing Project as we have conversations with Alabamians throughout the state to hear how these climate crisis effect them, their families, and communities.",
