"description": "In the wake of Pope Francis’ death last week and in these uncertain times of 2025—an official “Jubilee Year” in the Catholic Church – please join us for a conversation about Jubilee, and what a true collective renewal and reset of relations requires of us. It’s time for a radical “reset” of our economy, our political system, and our relationship with land, place, and belonging with each other—and scripture has a special tool for that. Jubilee, or “yovel” in Hebrew, is a biblical practice that carries some much-needed medicine for these times—calling forth reparations, debt forgiveness and redistribution of wealth, being “counted” by our lineage and ancestors, and returning the land to original peoples (and we think, to the Land Herself and to God). You’re invited to join us for a conversation with practitioners and scholars of Jubilee: Rev. Ashley DeTar Birt, co-director of the Center for Jubilee Practice and a Presbyterian minister; Pat McCabe, Din´e teacher, LJF advisor, and longtime participant of Jubilee Gift; and Ian Schiffer, activist, legal apprentice with Land Clinic, and co-teacher of Hebrew Guest Laws & Land Back.",
