	"description": "Stewards are legally recognized union representatives in the workplace, with special legal protections to carry out duties necessary to build power, engage members, and enforce the contract and workplace policies. Whenever you act in your capacity as a union steward, you step out of your role as an employee and become an official union representative. When a union member requests union representation in a meeting they think may lead to discipline or termination, a steward is who attends. Stewards are responsible for representing all members of the union fairly- taking notes in disciplinary meetings, asking questions of the employer, requesting information relevant to the investigation, and making sure that members are treated fairly on the job.
