"description": "The current UPS contract expires on July 31, and if UPS won’t agree to a fair deal before then, 340,000 UPS workers could go on strike nationwide -- the largest single-employer strike in our nation’s history. Here’s what workers want: Working Conditions: Workers want management to stop harassing them, stop monitoring their every move with driver-facing cameras, put air conditioning in the trucks, and end forced overtime. End the Two-Tier System Workers want equal pay for equal work. Right now, some of the drivers get full-time pay and weekends off, while a whole generation of new drivers (22.4s) get screwed. These workers do the same jobs, but depending on when they were hired, the difference can be as much as $10 an hour. Better Pay, especially for Part-Timers In essence, UPS’s goal is to be a lot more like Amazon, treating workers like disposable widgets. The company wants fewer full-time workers and more part-timers. The corporation likes to boast about its high wages, but only a small percentage of workers actually receive it. 60% of workers are part-time, often making barely above minimum wage. No Subcontracting UPS wants workers who aren’t employees at all (let alone Teamsters). The corporation wants Uber and Lyft-esque gig workers that deliver packages out of their own cars. They want to replace union workforces with gig workers. That’s the fight. On one side are the workers and consumers, on the other side is UPS and Wall Street. If the Teamsters win, it will show the power of working people over corporate America. The Teamsters must win. Sign our petition in solidarity with the UPS Teamsters. Let’s make sure that UPS jobs stay good middle-class jobs!",
