"description": "Sign the petition to support child care providers have the right to collectively bargain with the state of California. Make your voice heard! Across our nation, women are standing up to demand respect in our workplaces and public sphere, and no one exemplifies women’s power to lift up each other and our economy more than California’s child care providers. Child care providers are the backbone of California's economy, we support working families across the state. Providers are fighting for a union and the right to collectively bargain because we know it's the only way to fight poverty, achieve better working conditions, and solve racial and economic injustice. Without the right to collectively bargain: Nearly half of all child care workers in California will continue to rely on some form of public assistance to make ends meet. Child care providers will continue to be excluded from basic worker protections such as minimum wage and workers' compensation. Many child care providers will continue to work two or three jobs and still scrape by to pay the rent. Turnover in the profession will continue to remain stubbornly high. This hurts child care providers’ ability to raise our own families and support the working moms and kids who are counting on us. Support child care providers in strengthening our profession by having the right to collectively bargain with the State of California. Let decision makers know that providers are not alone in our fight to improve our lives and those of the children and families we serve. Sign the petition today!",
