	"description": "Right now in this world of plenty, 205 million people in 45 countries are struggling with acute food insecurity. 49 million of them are facing emergency levels of hunger. On March 9th President Biden will release his formal budget request to Congress, and we’re calling on our leaders to invest greater resources to end the global hunger crisis. Specifically we are calling on his budget to include: Fully funding and implementing the Global Food Security Act. Passed late last year, this critical initiative takes us one step closer to our vision of zero hunger by supporting agriculture development internationally, specifically ensuring that women farmers have access to the resources they need to build climate-resilient farming practices. Protecting and expanding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), ensuring that life-saving assistance is not cut nor is access restricted/blocked for families in need. Some Republican lawmakers are threatening to cut this critical food aid program, carrying enormous consequences for the roughly 41 million people in the US who rely on this support.
