"description": "As we navigate the challenges of the current educational landscape, it is imperative that we come together to address pressing concerns that affect us as educators and also affect the quality of education our students receive. In light of rising costs of living and the ongoing challenges posed by teacher burnout, excessive workloads, and safety concerns, we believe it is crucial to advocate for a salary increase that reflects our hard work and dedication. This letter aims to unite our voices in calling upon the DeSoto Board of Trustees to take immediate action and approve: A 5% pay increase across the board at all step levels. Allowing mental health days to be rolled over from the previous school year to the next. Change some of the professional development days to work days to allow more time to work in the classroom in order to complete campus and district requirements. We urge you to sign the letter addressed to the Board of Trustees, expressing our collective concerns and demands for a brighter future for DeSoto ISD. Together, we can ensure that we feel valued, supported, and empowered to continue making a positive impact in the lives of our students. Thank you for your commitment to our students and each other.",
